3” barrel in .31 percussion caliber. This is a large frame early model Manufactured from 1857 to 1860s. This is a very scarce pistol, seldom seen, with approximately 500 produced in all variations. Frame is simply marked “Allen & Wheelock”. Hammer is stamped “Patented April 16, 1845”. Nearly 100% cylinder scene Perfect legends. Has the walnut bag handle, bar hammer, double action, and octagon barrel. Indexes perfectly but return is sticky. Grips are excellent. All matching numbers on barrel, cylinder, and frame. Metal is a smooth brown patina. Very good bore with black powder residue. This is the first revolver made by Allen and exhibits the pepperbox influence. Comes in a period walnut case with brown lining. Has a wood-handled cleaning rod and comes with three bullet molds. The brass bullet mold and steel bullet mold are proper caliber, plus an extra, large diameter bullet mold. Rare and early revolver.
