5” barrel in .45 ACP caliber. The left side of the frame bears the A.A. Augusta Arsenal re-build mark. The frame was manufactured at the Springfield Armory and bears the flaming bomb armory proof on the left side. Frame was manufactured in 1915. Slide was manufactured by A.J. Savage, this company was contracted to manufacture slides only in 1918. Left side of the slide bears the Colt patent information with Savage Ordnance bomb. This gun was overhauled at the Augusta Arsenal for re-use during the second World War. Pistol retains 98%-99% of the re-applied arsenal military parkerized finish. In addition, the original wood grips were replaced with the brown plastic checkered Keyes style grips with outer reinforcing rings. The left panel is non-reinforced with a No. 9, the right panel bears the Keyes star No. 12 with re-inforcing ribs. This pistol still retains the original long smooth trigger, flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, the Type two long wide spur checkered hammer, checkered safety, World War II serrated slide stop. The blued barrel has a “P” on left lug and “HS” (High Standard) on right lug (proper World War II barrel). Near mint bore. Has a World War II magazine. Action is fine. Very fine example of a World War II over-hauled pistol that saw use in both wars.
