5” barrel in .45 ACP caliber. Offered is a very early second year production (1926) Colt Model 1911-A1 Commercial pistol. Colt made the changes from the original 1911 to the A1 in 1925. The most notable change being the checkered arched mainspring housing. This early Commercial 1911-A1 remains in excellent condition. It has all proper pre-war Commercial parts to include: fully checkered short trigger, checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, Commercial blued barrel with “S” stamped on bottom. Left side of slide has the Colt’s patent dates ending August 19, 1913. Right side of slide is stamped “Colt Automatic Caliber .45” with pony. Has full checkered walnut grips. The frame retains approximately 90% original high polish factory Commercial blue with light wear on front grip strap. Grip safety and arched mainspring housing are basically grey patina. 3/4” of wear at takedown area left side frame. Slide still retains 90-95% original high polish blue with light high edge and muzzle wear. Bore is near mint. Action is perfect. Extremely fine condition very early 1911-A1 Commercial. Factory letter: shipped February 9, 1926; standard blue government model, shipped to Stambaugh-Thompson Co. Youngstown, Ohio.
