28” barrel in .32 LR caliber. According to records, less than 800 of these rifles were produced by Remington from 1866 to 1870. That said, this serial number would put this rifle near the end of production. According to Flayderman, this rifle was manufactured with a blued finish, iron mountings, brass or iron frame, and “Beals Patent” marked barrel. This example is completely in the white and bears no markings of any kind aside from the serial number on lever and tang, which match. It is extremely clean with age freckling, and does not look to have been polished. Features the part octagon barrel with sharp edges. No pitting of any kind. Has a simply military style folding leaf sight and dove-tail front. Walnut stock and rifle butt. Stock is excellent with added finish, and is slightly shy to metal. This gun operates by pulling down on lever, and the entire barrel slides forward for loading. Very good rifled bore. Action is fine. Very interesting rifle for the single shot collector.
