28” barrel in .40-60 caliber. These rifles were manufactured 1881 to 1892. This is a special order rifle in that it features a full octagon barrel with factory half magazine, sporting sights, blued finish, case colored lever and hammer, and smooth steel shotgun butt plate. The beautiful walnut stocks feature raised checkering with incised borders and incised decorative edge near butt plate. Not factory but obviously period done and masterfully executed. Brilliant case colors on side of hammer, traces on lever. 75%-80% original high polish factory blue mixed with brown patina and light age freckling. Perfect action. Strong rifled bore. Very handsome early special order 1881 Marlin with lots of finish.
