109539 22” barrel in .32-40 Winchester caliber. According to the book on Savage Rifles the serial number was applied to this frame in 1910/11. Also according to the book, this model was only available with a steel butt plate and the takedown option was not offered until 1917. So either this was a special order or the frame was taken from inventory. In either case, it is an extremely rare, possibly one-of-a-kind rifle in that it features the 22” full round barrel with takedown feature and style three barrel address that was used from 1911-1919. Has the early perch belly walnut stock with the hard rubber savage logo shotgun butt plate. It is chambered for the very scarce .32-40 Winchester cartridge. Barrel retains approximately 85% factory blue finish, thinning in spots, has the knife blade front sight with sporting rear. Frame retains approximately 70%-75% the original high polish factory blue, thinning at base and high edges. Lever has traces of case colors. Has the brass cartridge and Savage tang sight. Walnut stocks are excellent with minor storage dings, but none of the usual cracks anywhere. Butt plate is excellent. Near mint shiny bore. Perfect action. Very rare, high condition Savage.
