Offered is a nice pair of Winchester Model 1897 16 bore takedown shotguns. Both are choked full, with 28” barrels, round 17-groove three screw for-end, and round knob. The first gun was manufactured in 1903 and retains 95% original blue on barrel, tube, and slide arm which is stamped “Winchester Model 1897 16 GA” The frame retains 80% original Winchester high polish factory blue, thinning at base and high edges. Even the bolt retains the majority of its original blue. Fine bore and perfect action. The round knob stock features deluxe checkering and has a Pachmayr pad added. 13-5/8” LOP. Switching the pad to a Winchester red pad would make this a very handsome, nice condition Model 1897. The second gun was manufactured in 1902, and is fairly clean. Barrel and tube retain about 75% blue, balance patina. Sides of the frame are a nice mix of blue-brown patina. Base and top of frame are patina. For-end has a 1” hairline crack and the round knob rear stock has had some wood repairs. There is a 3” piece of replaced wood at heel and a 1-1/4” additional piece of wood at butt. Gun has replacement butt plate. Fine bore and action.
