Manufactured 1873-1879. Both rifles sport 30” barrels and are chambered for the .44 Evans cartridge. Both have blue finish with walnut stock and forend, adjustable military style sporting rear sights and are loaded through tubular magazine in the butt stock, holding 28 rounds. They were the largest capacity repeaters of the time. Gun A: is a clean- up parts gun, stamped “Evans Sporting Rifle”, the checkered forend has a piece missing at the front side. Gun B: Earlier model, Standard address with an 1871 date. All metal is dark brown patina with a plain forend with numerous repairs and a 6” crack with a repair in the butt of the stock. Great restoration project.
