24" barrel in caliber .32-20 WCF. Manufactured 1886 to 1888 only. This is a rarely encountered rifle with less than 2,000 manufactured in all variations. It was a last ditch attempt to save the Whitney Company from bankruptcy. It is a standard sporting rifle with full octagon barrel, full magazine, German knife front sight, sporting rear sight, with heavy S-curve buttplate. all metal is a smooth pleasing mix of blue and brown patina. Wood is excellent, proud to metal, with original finish and only usual minor abrasions. Action is perfect. Strong rifled bore with minor black powder abrasion. This is a very nice, clean example of a rifle that literally never comes up for sale.
