This apparatus was manufactured by Colt. It is the attachment system for the belt fed model 1917-1919 A4 machine gun. The plaque reads “Manufactured by Colts patent Jan. 13, 1920.” The kit includes all four parts. It is cast is solid brass. Serial number 9580. Parts include the main mechanism which includes blued steel parts. The feed attachment, the handle with brass knob and a sea clamp. All brass and iron parts are painted green and show some loss of paint. Comes in the original Colt wooden box. The leather handle is broken. An unusual hard to find item for the machine gun or for the Colt display.
