Cal. .43 Spanish, Barrel length 20”. Manufactured 1866-1871, in Providence, Rhode Island. Military style saddle ring and carbine remains in near new unused condition. Blued barrel with case color frame, hammer, lever, barrel band and butt plate with oil finish walnut stock and fire blue screws. Simple folding leaf rear sight. Barrel retains 98% of the dull military blue finish. Barrel band stamped “U”. Frame has 90% original case colors and has the Peabody stamp on left side. Saddle ring bar stamped ”E” as is top of frame. Block is stamped “B” ,butt plate stamped “F”, bottom of frame stamped “S”, lever stamped “H” , bottom of tang “F” . Most of the screws retain the original fire blue finish and the stock is near mint with an almost perfect “W.C.” cartouche. Near mint bore, perfect action. Issued to several state militias after the Civil War, this example did not see any real use.
