20" barrel in .44-40 caliber. Offered is the classic Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 caliber. It is standard in all respects. Features full magazine, carbine post front sight, folding carbine ladder rear sight, two barrel bands, saddle ring with stid, walnut stocks, and carbine buttplate. It is getting exceedingly difficult to get original untouched, never messed with Model 1873 carbines in .44 caliber, this is one such example. The screw heads are nearly all perfect. Metal has naturally aged without cleaning or polishing to a soft grey-brown patina. Barrel legends are sharp as new. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, with no cracks or chips, but the usual minor impressions and a lovely patina and shine. Loading gate still has approximately 40% - 50% original blue finish. Brass carrier and barrel are both stamped "44". Strong rifling with minor abrasion. A used gun that was obviously well taken care of and never messed with that has the look that collectors seek but seldom find in one of the most iconic lever actions ever manufactured. Factory research: shipped November 21, 1894; type .44 carbine.
