A classic early clockwork battleship, circa early 20th century, manufactured by the famed Gebr. Märklin & Cie toy firm. Typical of this toy firm so many lifelike details of the various real life examples they emulated were transformed into the toys they manufactured. Marklin always employed the highest standards & quality thus Marklin toys usually stood apart from their many competitors/rivals. Inspecting this toy with its "ram front" prow, multiple gun turrets both large & small, simulated painted wooden decking, twin lifeboats, large masts w/crows nests, and a wheeled base w/simulated waves painted upon the base are just a few of the many highlights of this toy boat. A most impressive toy even, with its significant paint restoration, it is easy to understand why these toys were popular back at the time of production and why they are so sought after today by collectors. Overall a very nice example with, as expected, some replacements parts at time of restoration.

Item Dimensions: 29 -1/2" L.
