32-5/8" barrel in .45-70 govt. This trapdoor rifle remains in excellent all original condition. Barrel retains approximately 90% original factory blue finish mixing with plum patina and turning at breech. Has the standard 1873 rear sight. Two barrel bands are both stamped "U" with 30% original blue. Has sling swivels. Trigger guard is brown patina with a serrated trigger with knurled tip. Perfect wood to metal fit at lock. Stamped "U.S. Springfield" with eagle. Left side of barrel has the "V.P." eagle head proof. Lock is stamped "U.S. Model 1873". Nice traces of case colors on tang. Original walnut stocks are excellent with a strong "S.W.P. 1883" cartouche on left side (Sam Porter). Strong cursive proof "P" on bottom of stock and is stamped "E.D.B.". Has a perfect action and strong, clean, near mint bore. Far above average trapdoor.
