Sword carried by Colonel Gordon Ives of the Coldstream Guards at the battle of Balaclava. Slightly curved blade of 35-1/2” with a single fuller. Blade inscribed: “THIS SWORD USED AT BALACLAVA WAS CARRIED BY COLONEL GORDON IVES IN THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS WINTER 1854-1855. HIS OWN SWORDS HAVING BEEN LOST”. Three bar hilt, ribbed grips, no wire. Scabbard having two hanging rings and drag. Blade has darkened with age with dark spots throughout, one nick out of the blade 11-1/2” from tip. Scabbard has one dent on each side with light pitting and rust.
