Round 42” pin-fastened barrel in .75 caliber. Regimental stamped deeply with two British proof marks in the center near breech and with “G” on left side, which is part of maker’s initials, bayonet stud towards muzzle. Tang marked “G/10”. Rounded lock plate, vertically marked “TOWER” at tail with double-line border and traces of large engraved crown over “GR” in center along with broad arrow inspection mark. Full-length walnut stock with relief carved beavertail around barrel tang, steel ramrod and sling swivels. Typical Short Land Pattern brass furniture, wrist escutcheon marked “G/10” and top of butt plate marked deeply with “XLI”. Lock reconverted, barrel and lock with brown patina and scattered pitting overall. Brass with mostly dark patina with some areas bright due to old varnish. Stock with traces of salmon paint, which has been removed, carving around tang worn, as stock has been sanded, last 12” of forend replaced.
