Here we have two elegant Steiff storks. The first is 19 inches tall, standing, and unjointed. He is made entirely from felt: his body is tan felt, his back wings are black felt, and his dramatic legs and beak are made from orange felt. His button eyes are black and backed by red felt and a red seam. He is most likely made in the prewar era based on his presentation, size, and construction. His IDs have been lost to time. The second is named Adebar Stork. He is standing and measures 17 cm tall. His body is made of lovely off white felt. His wings are made from black and white hand cut felt and really do resemble feathers. His feet are made from metal which has been painted orange. His face is detailed with tiny amber and black pupil eyes, a little airbrushing, and a large orange beak. He retains his named chest tag, raised script button, and traces of his yellow tag. This design was produced postwar from 1953-1969. Both storks have a delightful, very old fashioned, vintage look to them. Condition: As noted. Larger stork with losses to felt at the tips of his toes and beak and overall light surface dust. Feet have darkened slightly. No structural issues of note, overall good condition. Smaller stork in excellent, clean condition. Provenance: From a fine New England collection.
