This lot consists of five beloved Steiff birds from the c. 1950-1980's timeframe. The first are two Peggy penguins. One is 3-1/2 inches tall and the other is 8 inches tall. Both are standing and made from mohair. The bigger one is head jointed, the smaller one is unjointed. Both have glass pupil eyes and red felt beaks. Large Peggy has her button and chest tag, small Peggy's IDs have been lost to time. This Peggy pattern was made from 1956-1975. The third is Steiff's brown and tan chick. She is 4 inches tall, standing, head jointed, and made from washable light brown spotted dralon. She has black button eyes, a tan plastic beak, yellow feet, a short orange felt comb, and outstretched wings. She retains her Steiff button as her ID. She was made from 1969-1974. The forth is Steiff's baby chick. He is 3-1/2 inches tall and sitting on his chubby bottom. He is head jointed and made from lovely yellow mohair. Chick has black button eyes, a yellow plastic beak, orange felt feet, short orange felt combs, and outstretched wings. This chick is complete with all IDs. He was made from 1955-1968. The fifth bird is Steiff's studio Kingfisher bird. He is unjointed and perched upon a piece of white birch wood. This edition is about 8 inches tall overall. He is made turquoise, white, and tan colored dralon and has felt feet, wingtips, and tail feathers. His face is detailed with airbrushed highlights, a plastic beak, and brown and black pupil eyes. He is complete with all IDs. He was made in 1980-1981. Despite his relative newness, he is one of the most sought after editions from the 1980's. Condition: As noted.
