This lot consists of two very popular Steiff owl examples from the 1960-1980's time frame. The first is a 4 inch tall Wittie owl. He is unjointed and standing. His body and wings are mohair and his feathers are designed from carefully cut and detailed felt. Wittie has marvelous airbrushed detailing on his body, green pupil eyes, and charming tufts of black hair on his forehead. His face is detailed with a tan felt beak. Like all Witties, this little charmer has enormously large felt feet. Wittie was produced from 1954-1977 in four sizes, this is the smallest. He retains his Steiff button and yellow tag as his IDs. The second is Steiff's studio screech owl. He is 12 inches tall, standing, and unjointed. His body and wings are made from very nice, thick knitted tan and brown fur. His face is made from longer white knitted fur. His feet are knitted fur and felt and somewhat posable. Owl has marvelous airbrushed detailing on his face, black and amber eyes, and a sweet yellow rubber beak. He is quite appealing, and intelligent looking. He is complete with all IDs. He was produced from 1981-1988 in this size only. Condition: As noted. Overall excellent condition. Provenance: From a fine New England collection.
LOT OF 2: STEIFF OWLS.
