.38-40 WCF caliber with a 24" barrel. Manufactured 1892. This rifle was manufactured during the first year of production for this model. It remains in strong all original condition and is in the scarce takedown variation. Features full octagon barrel; full magazine; Winchester sporting front and rear sights; blue finish; walnut stocks; rifle butt; case colored hammer, lever, and buttplate. Barrel has razor sharp edges and legends and is a mix of blue-grey patina with some age spotting. The tube is a mix of blue and grey as well, with some areas of bright blue. Nose cap has silvered out, as has the buttplate. Frame retains approximately 60-70% of the original brilliant Winchester high polish blue finish with the balance gun metal grey. The sides of the lever and hammer retain generous amounts of case colors. Walnut stocks are near mint with beautiful grain, near all the original finish, is proud to metal, and just a few minor marks. Mirror bore and perfect action. A very scarce first year big bore takedown Model 1892.
