.218 Bee caliber with a 24-1/2" barrel. Manufactured 1936. During the 1930's, Winchester executives got the idea that they could update their Cowboy Classic actions, such as the Model 1886, 1892, and 1894 to a more modern appearing rifle while also offering some newly introduced fast cartridges. To this end, they created the Model 71 in .348 caliber. The 1892 action became the Model 65 in .218 Bee and the Model 1894 action became the Model 64 in .219 Zipper. This is the very scarce Model 65 chambered for the super speed .218 Bee that was invented in conjunction with this rifle. standard features include a 24-1/2" round barrel, ramp front sight, button magazine, blued finish, walnut stock with rakish pistol grip and flute, and checkered steel buttplate. This rifle is equipped with the Winchester bolt peep sight. Barrel and nose cap retain approximately 95-98% original factory blue, with barely a hint of wear. The frame and tang still retain 98% of the original blue finish with the only wear being a couple of storage spots on left side and some age freckles on right side. Walnut stocks are near mint, proud to metal, with original finish, and only a couple of very minor impressions. Perfect action and strong bore. These rifles are very hard to find in any condition, let alone one that has seen very little use.
