.50 rimfire caliber with a 20" barrel. This is a Model 1865 with a 20" barrel. The model or maker cannot be found on breech or top of frame. Standard features on this Saddle Ring Carbine include full round barrel, single barrel band, post front sight, carbine folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring and bar, two-piece walnut stock set, metal carbine buttplate, and rear sling swivel. Loads through tube in rear of stock. All metal is basically a brown patina with age spots and gun metal showing through. Walnut stocks are very good with usual dings and dents, but no major cracks. Action is perfect. Strong bore with minor abrasions. Fine, clean, all original Spencer Civil War rifle. Fine example of a Northern Civil War Cavalry carbine.
