22" barrel in caliber .30-40 Krag. The Model 1899 was the last official carbine to be issued in the 19th century. This carbine is standard in all respects and sports the Model 1901 carbine stamped (C) rear sight graduated to 2300 yards. Has the standard blade and post front sight. Left side of stock has the "J.S.A. 1901" cartouche with script "P" at wrist. The handguard has the proper forward hump. Barrel retains approximately 95% original factory blue. Barrel band has approximately 90% blue and is stamped "U". The smooth steel trapdoor buttplate retains approximately 75% original high polish factory blue. Magazine and frame are a blue-brown patina mix. Extractor has traces of fire blue. Left side of stock under magazine cover has a small expert repair. Trigger guard retains approximately 70% original factory blue. Perfect action. Strong, pronounced rifled bore. No visible cracks or chips. Very nice example.
