27" barrel in .400 Express caliber. Offered is a lovely and very interesting turn of the century large caliber bolt action Express rifle. It is unusual in its design in that the bolt handle is reversed and actually opens and closes at the barrel breech. Rifle features a fixed box magazine, full round barrel, sporting front sight, and three leaf express folding rear sight (100, 200, 300). The receiver, bolt, and barrel breech exhibit light engraving and the top of the receiver is stamped "Certus". Barrel has an integral front sling eye. Stock is the traditional English style dark walnut with the Rigby type checkered short wide forend with swept back pistol grip, checkered and a half checkered steel shotgun buttplate. All metal surfaces are a smooth pleasing blue-brown mix with razor sharp legends. In addition to British proof marks left side of barrel is stamped "400 GRS Bullet Max 60 GRS Cordite 400EX". Stock is very good to excellent with usual hunting dings. Left forearm has a 1/2" hairline with a deep, dark, rich patina on balance of stock and fine checkering. Strong, clean, rifled bore. Perfect action. Rifle comes in an English style hard leather rifle case with shoulder strap. Very unique and distinctive turn of the Century English big bore bolt action sporting rifle.
