.54 caliber with a 10" barrel. Manufactured for the United States government in Middletown, Connecticut 1819 to 1823. This pistol is dated 1821 and is standard in all respects. Barrel is U.S.P. inspected. Lock is stamped "S. North" with American eagle and shield, and "MIDLTN CONN.". Has the inspector marking present on left side of stock. Barrel is stamped "J.D.J.". The frizzen spring is a replacement, otherwise this pistol is all original as issued. Metal is a grey-brown patina with age spotting. Walnut stocks are excellent with no cracks. Clean smooth bore. Fine action.
