24" barrel in .30-06 caliber. This rifle was manufactured March 1942 to July 1942. Has a correct SA April 1942 barrel, correct rear Lockbar type two rear sight, correct bolt stamped "D28287-2SA", correct trigger group stamped "D.28290-5-SA". Block "P" in circle on wrist. Replaced post-1953 stock with 1/2" "D.O.D." cartouche in box on left side. Frame retains approximately 70% of the dark military phosphate finish, as does barrel. Trap and front sight are basically gun metal grey. Stock is very good to excellent with usual dings. TE reading of '3' and an ME reading of '2'. Nice M1 Garand as is, would greatly benefit from a proper era stock. Very early war example.
