11-3/4" barrel in 7.65mm caliber. Approximately 2,500 of these were manufactured by DWM for commercial sales in Germany and elsewhere in 1902. The sporting carbines were intended as a light rifle substitute and came with the detachable contoured stock. The majority of these were imported into the U.S. but none have ever been found with the German import stamp. The serial number on this carbine falls precisely between the accepted number (21200-22100). Features the DWM scroll on front link. Has the scalloped toggle, grip safety, blued finish, checkered walnut grip panels, long range rear sight, ramp front sight, checkered walnut buttstock and forend with matching number (X84), and black composite buttplate. The forearm and buttstock have sling swivels. Beautiful straw colors on trigger, extractor, safety, and other small parts. Pistol retains 98% of the original factory blue finish. The wood bottom magazine is etched X84 to match stock and forend. About the only flaw is some minor chipping at the toe of the composite buttplate and a few minor impressions on stock. Otherwise wood is near mint as well. Fine bore and action. All original, every number matches. This carbine has the flaming bomb in the well. A beautiful, rare, early turn of the century 1902 Luger carbine in nearly un-improvable condition. Comes displayed in a red lined walnut box.
