4" barrel in 9mm caliber. Dated 1938 on the chamber, this is the scarcest year of this series. pistol exhibits the post-1937 salt-blued finish which also eliminated the straw colors. This pistol has all matching numbers including checkered walnut grips with the exception of the aluminum bottom magazine that is 9125. Left side of slide has the Waffenamt stamps. It would be hard to imagine a finer example of a 1938 S/42 existing, especially given the fragile bluing process. There is some light wear on sideplate and rail. The majority of these Lugers saw heavy use as they were made for the German military from 1936 to 1940. Seldom does one surface in such fine condition showing virtually no wear other than that already described.
