6" barrel in 9mm caliber. These pistols were manufactured by DWM for the German Navy. Examples are very rare as few were made during the war and a large portion of remaining examples were destroyed or altered to conform to the Versailles Treaty. This is a standard example with blued finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, and a wood base magazine. All numbers are matching, except grips are not numbered. This pistol is dated 1917 with "DWM" on toggle and "100" on rear sight. Straw colored trigger, lock bolt, safety, and extractor and colors are still strong. Has a blued finish. Front sight is dated 1917. The left rail is stamped "Germany" over some numbers which is some cause for confusion as it is not a 1920 Commercial, rather it may have been stamped to sell outside Germany at the war's end. There is some high edge wear on rails and muzzle. Balance of gun retains 97-98% original factory blue, including straps. Fine bore and action. Extremely fine example.
