This lot consists of a pair of Dietz brass lanterns with handles. At the very top of the lantern is a small lever used to raise the glass so that one is able to get to the wick, which has been cut in both of these. On the lid of the glass, L. w. Tubular. US. Brass. is stamped on both. Also present on one of these lanterns, stamped into the glass is Dietz, which is enclosed in an oval, and underneath that Junior Cold Blast N.Y. U.S.A. The glass of the other lantern is not stamped but is wider than the previous lantern. They both have knobs, each stamped with something different. On the Dietz Junior lamp, the knob is stamped Dietz Tubular NO. The other has R.E. Dietz Co. stamped on its knob. On the base of each, are the following stamps: Patents May 23 ’71, July 26 ’81, March 13 ’83, June 6 ’85, and Oct 26 ’86. Including the handle, the lamp with the stamp on the glass is approximately 10 ¾ inches tall without the handle, with the handle it is approximately 14-1/4 inches tall. The other lamp is approximately 11 inches tall without the handle, with the handle it is approximately 14-3/4 inches tall. Both are in good condition and have air bubbles present in the glass. The lantern that does not have a stamp in the glass has a large seam/ air bubble that goes on an angle. The Junior Dietz lantern appears to have had some repairs done to the top. Minimal dents and scratches.
