With horsehair collar. Here we have a handsome 14 cm version of Steiff’s original Bully bulldog from the late 1920's. Bully is sitting, head jointed, and made from orange and tan mohair. His face and muzzle are made from tan colored velvet, which has darkened a little over time. Bully has oversized brown and black glass pupil eyes and a black, hand-embroidered nose. He proudly wears his early and original horsehair collar, a typical Steiff accessory of his time. This particular version of Bully was made in nine sizes ranging from 10 to 50 centimeters from 1927-1932 overall. The orange and tan versions are rarer than the black and tan versions as they were produced for fewer years. Today, this precious pooch is one of the most universally desirable and sought-after pre-war Steiff designs among collectors. He has been replicated numerous times over the past few decades and even these newer models are coveted by collectors. Bully retains his long trailing “f” Steiff button and traces of his red ear tag as his IDs. Condition: As noted. Absolutely adorable presentation. In very good condition overall, with just a touch of playwear and mohair thinning typical to his age and model.
