.45 ACP caliber with a 5" barrel. Manufactured 1942. Offered is a standard early war Colt manufactured U.S. Army Model 1911-A1 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol. It has matching numbers on frame and slide. Blued barrel is stamped "P" on left lug. Magazine is stamped "CS" on tongue. Has the checkered short wide spur hammer with checkered slide stop, safety, trigger, and arched mainspring housing. Has Keyes style brown composite grips. Left side of frame has the "G.H.D." (Guy Dewey) inspector stamp with "P" proof on left side. Right side stamped "United States Property M 1911A1 U.S. Army" with Ordnance wheel. Right side of slide is properly non-stamped. Left side of slide is stamped with pony in center. Has the proper style rear sight. Pistol still retains the two-toned appearance at the end of slide, retaining approximately 95% of the factory reapplied phosphate military finish. Bore is excellent. Fine action. A few of the letters on frame and slide and Ordnance wheel on frame have thinned out from arsenal overhaul. Pistol still retains 95% of the arsenal reapplied finish.
