Circa 1820. Octagonal 38” barrel is unsigned and held in place with brass barrel keys, dovetailed brass front sight, notched rear sight and 3-3/4” tang in .52 caliber rifled bore with punch decorated muzzle face. Flat flintlock marked “WARRANTED”, rounded tail. Full length figured maple stock with incised carved scrolls on left side of buttstock behind cheek piece and on both sides of wrist. Set of incised lines carved along forend. Four-piece patch box with Edelweiss finial and star deeply engraved around each screw formed by a series of lines, rocker panel engraved borders. Plain brass faceted trigger guard and ramrod thimbles, I-shaped toe plate with rocker panel engraving and stars around screws en suite with patch box, 3-1/4” wear plate forward of trigger guard. Solid side plate deeply engraved to match patch box. Oval silver wrist escutcheon is vacant, round oval inlay behind escutcheon on wrist and silver eight-point Moravian star inlaid above cheek piece, mounted with screw in center. Dark patina on barrel, lock is reconverted to flint, brass with unpolished mellow patina. Stock with several cracks in wrist area and repaired from being broken in two pieces at center of lock; missing ramrod.
