5-1/2" in .44-40 WCF caliber. Revolver was manufactured in 1883 and has matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, and back strap. All metal is a brown patina. Original period walnut one piece grips show wear with small repair at right bottom toe. Cylinder indexes fine. Strong clean bore. This is an interesting old cowboy gun in that it has a 5-1/2'' barrel but wears the two line barrel address usually reserved for 4-3/4''. The only explanation for this is an error. Factory letter indicates a blued revolver in .44-40 caliber sent to E.C. Meacham Arms Co., St. Louis February 7th, 1883 in a 50 gun shipment. Barrel length and stocks not listed, which usually meant 7-1/2" barrel and one piece walnut grips during this era.
