Round 33” barrel, no visible markings at breech, brass front sight and notched steel rear sight in .54 caliber smoothbore. Percussion lock plate stamped “ROBBINS KENDALL & LAWRENCE U.S.” forward of hammer and “WINDOR VT. 1847” at tail. Walnut stock with brass furniture, including large patch box, two barrel bands, “US” marked butt plate tang and indiscernible cartouche on left side behind brass side plate. Steel sling swivels and ramrod with brass tip. This contractor made 10,000 rifles between 1845 and 1848. It was the only arms contract produced by this firm. Fair condition, barrel with a spotted grey patina with some pitting at breech and markings worn off, scattered marks from use. Lock with dark grey patina and scattered light pitting, markings excellent. Stock has edge-wear and scattered marks from use, good overall. Furniture very good, unpolished and scattered light marks. Hammer screw replaced.
