This Majolica Palmer Cox Brownie Policeman is a candlestick. This policeman dons a blue uniform with a yellowish brown pocket on his left. The number 88 is stamped on the pocket, which can also be found on the band on his hat. In his right hand he holds a brown club. The figure appears shocked, with his eyes open wide and eyebrows arched above. His ears stick out past his hat. The policeman stands straight and tall upon a slightly green but more brown ground in front of tree stump. Stamped on the base of the figure is a set of numbers “283858” and "42" hand written in a reddish color. Also on the base of this figure is the air hole. The policeman is approximately 8-5/8 x 3 inches at its widest. Overall this figure is in good condition. There are some slight variations in the blue color and the porcelain. The base of the figure is not flat and wobbles. There is slight wear to the base where it is not glazed.
