5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. According to the factory letter, this pistol was shipped to the Brooklyn Naval Yard on November 5th, 1912. It is all original as issued with the exception of the barrel, which has the "HP" stamp, sans serifs, in line with bore and was first used in 1915. The magazine is a lanyard loop two-tone that does not have the key-hole slot and is referred to as a "Type 3", and was issued at serial No. 42000 (approximately 1913). Pistol has the proper short wide spur Type One short checkered hammer (correct), the Type One long smooth trigger, early rounded Type One rear sight (correct), proper checkered slide stop and safety, proper flat mainspring housing, correct walnut diamond checkered grips. Left side of frame has the inspector stamp "W.P." (Walter Penfield 1911-1914). Left side of frame is stamped "United States Property". Left side of slide has the correct pony in circle at rear. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Navy". This pistol has seen light use. Still retains approximately 75-80% all original factory blue finish. Shows holster wear on high edges of slide and frame. Front grip strap retains 20% blue. Grips are excellent. An extremely fine all original scarce U.S. Navy Model 1911 that had the barrel and magazine replaced prior to 1915.
