Round 32-5/8” barrel secured by two steel barrel bands and marked with “V P” on top, forward of breech block, .45-70 caliber rifled bore. Front bayonet lug-type sight, rear sight 1873 early type. Breech block marked “MODEL 1873 (eagle’s head) US”. Lock plate marked “US 1884” and stamped with eagle motif forward of hammer. Steel furniture. Walnut stock. Fair condition, steel components worn, now with brown patina and pitting overall, markings worn, hammer replaced. Stock with scattered marks from use and large restored section on left side of wrist. Missing steel cleaning rod.
