Octagonal 32-1/2” swamped barrel in .66 caliber rifled bore marked with an indistinct German name on top flat, near breech. Ornate rear sight with leaf-shaped finial. Enclosed lock converted to percussion, with frizzen still left in place, brass cover finely engraved with scene of a castle with a fisherman removing a large catch from his line and a floating vessel of war. Front tang shaped and engraved with a detailed boar’s head. Walnut stock in the wheel lock form with relief scrolls behind barrel tang, forward of cheek piece, in front of trigger guard tang. Horn nose cap and replaced wooden ramrod with brass tip. Buttstock has a large pierced brass inlay on each side, brass butt plate, ornate trigger guard, shaped side plate, and ramrod ferrules. Very good condition, barrel and steel components have an even brown patina, brass furniture retains a mellow patina, stock with a 6” repair to the forend near the muzzle and a dime-sized hole on the left side of the buttstock. Some minor losses to forend along barrel and scattered marks from use.
