Octagonal 29-1/4” barrel in .60 caliber rifled bore, marked behind rear sight with worn indistinct German maker’s signature, dovetailed brass front sight and ornamental rear sight. Enclosed percussion lock with unmarked plate, most likely a converted wheel lock mechanism. Full length walnut stock with incised carved borders and relief scrolls behind side plate, behind barrel tang, forward of trigger guard tang and around entry ferrule. Brass furniture includes finger grooved trigger guard, shaped side plate, pierced brass inlay on cheek piece, ramrod ferrules, and flat butt plate. Full length stock is missing nose cap and has had 1-3/4” addition onto butt, piece of wood added to fill the patch box and wood replaced on top of butt and comb, most likely at the time of conversion from wheel lock. Some damage to last 6” of the forend, with some losses to wood and cracks. Otherwise, stock has scattered marks from use. Metal with grey patina and scattered pitting, has been cleaned. Brass with mellow patina.
