24" barrel in .30-06 Govt. caliber. This rifle originates from the famed collection of collector/author Mike Petrov. Michael, recently deceased, was a wealth of information dealing with custom pre-war sporting rifle and his two volumes on this subject have become the bible to custom rifle collectors world wide. This was one from his personal collection. There is not enough room, nor is there need to extol the virtues and fame of Fred Adolf. The classic lines of the custom Adolf rifle bear no explanation. This custom rifle was built utilizing a U.S. Springfield 1903 action that was manufactured in 1921. The knurled bolt has an inset bolt peep sight installed, the barrel was manufactured with no rear sight cut. Has a military style front sight. Barrel does have an 1/8" marker line at three o'clock at breech. All metal surfaces retain approximately 98% of the expertly reapplied blue finish. The slender pistol grip walnut stock has the lines of an early Newton with beautiful fine line checkering and fleur-de-lis accents. Has checkered side panels similar to a Wundhammer. Has early sling swivels, a metal serrated trapdoor buttplate with small upper teat. The wood is in phenomenal condition with no cracks just a couple small marks from use. Has a decorative fluted grip cap with engraved screw. Action is superb. Strong rifle bore. Rifle weighs 7lbs 4 oz. Stellar custom rifle from one of the worlds most renown pre-war gunsmiths and seldom seen on today's market.
