Round 23” blued steel barrel, marked “25” and “WD” under broad arrow and with other English proofs. Bayonet stud/sight at muzzle and rear sight with 200 and 300 yard leaves. .577 caliber rifled barrel. Casehardened percussion lock marked “BARNETT/LONDON”. Full-length varnished walnut stock stamped “BARNETT/GUNMAKERS/LONDON” into right side of buttstock in oval and stamped behind trigger guard tang with two crown over “1” proofs. Features: sling swivels, standard brass furniture, blued steel barrel bands and steel ramrod. Many of this pattern carbines were shipped from England to the south during the Civil War. This particular example is most likely unissued, as it is near mint with a mint, shiny bore. Retains 100% blue finish on steel surfaces, some light spotting.
