4-3/4" barrel in .45 LC caliber. According to the factory letter, this revolver was shipped October 7th, 1960 to Church Sporting Goods in Herrin, Illinois in a one gun shipment with blued finish and stocks not listed. Gun matches the letter with the blue and case colored finish. This revolver sports two piece walnut grips, standard design with light oil finish, no gloss. Grips are pencil marked inside 959 and serial number is stamped twice inside backstrap and trigger guard assembly. Revolver does not appear to have been fired. Appears in almost new condition inside and out. Does not even have a perceptible drag line. This is an unusual factory one gun order in that it has the plain two piece smooth walnut grips that were standard on nickel plated and Buntline models only. These were an extra cost and listed in the Colt catalog as optional. The first 4-3/4" .45 caliber Second Generation revolver was not produced until 1958. The "Post War Colt SAA" by George Garton does not list any totals for 4-3/4" blued guns shipped with walnut grips, but these numbers would be extremely low.
