28" barrel in .40-60-260 WCF caliber. Manufactured 1891. The Colt slide action large frame large bore repeater was a formidable weapon in its time. Chambered for the large calibers capable of killing any North American game and were used in the large frame Winchesters and Marlins but with a "Lightning" fast slide action. Standard features include full round barrel, full magazine, blued finish, two piece checkered walnut forend, plain walnut straight grip stock with rifle butt. This rifle has survived in fine overall condition. The barrel and tube a smooth mixing of blue with brown patina with razor sharp barrel legends. Sports the German silver knife blade front sight and the original sporting rear sight. The frame retains 10-20% of the original high polish blue with the balance a blue-brown patina to perfectly match the barrel and magazine. Checkered walnut forend is in excellent condition. Stock is slightly shy to metal, was freshened at one time, with some usual dings, but is in excellent condition as well. While not shiny, the bore exhibits strong sharp rifling, and the action is flawless. A very handsome large frame Lightning indeed.
