.52 bore percussion, 5-1/2" barrel. Forsyth & Company operated on Leicester Street in London 1816-1852 and exhibited at the great exhibition of 1851. Gun features over under case colored octagon barrels, engraved double hammers, engraved frame, twin side safety's, double triggers, swivel metal rod. Has a one piece checkered walnut bag handle with an engraved silver pommel. Both barrels are British proofed. Top of barrel is stamped Forsyth & Co. Patent gun makers London. This pistol does not appear to have been fired, bores are near mint, fine scroll engraving on frame, hammers, trigger guard and pommel. Exquisite fine checkering on walnut handle with silver monogram plaque. Still retains elements of case colors on frames and barrels with balance simply patterned out. 95% blue on trigger guard, walnut stocks are excellent to near mint with a couple of minor storage dings. This pistol is a beautifully made large bore over-under from a well known London gun maker. Pistol weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces. It is housed in a contemporary French fitted walnut case with plaque with three compartments, one with cover. Circa mid 19th century.
