7-1/2" barrel, caliber is .38 Colt. Manufactured in 1894. The 38th Colt is one of the rarer calibers in the antique serial number range. Introduced in 1886 and dropped from the line in 1914. During this period only 1,011 were made in this caliber and very few made during the pre 1938 era. It utilized the same cartridge as the Model 1877 Lightning revolver. Features: six shot, single action, blue/case colored with one piece walnut grips. This is an early screw in frame. Matching serial number on frame, back strap and trigger guard. Barrel and cylinder are not numbered. Left side of barrel stamped .38 Colt. Traces of case colors on frame with flashes of original blue on cylinder, barrel and ejector housing. 20% blue on hidden area of trigger guard and butt. Balance of gun is just a smooth grey patina with sharp legends. Period original one piece walnut grips are checkered (Not factory). Cylinder indexes perfectly, strong clean bore. Left side frame pony and circle partially obscured. So it was either lightly stamped or refinished sometime early in it's life.
