24" barrel in .38-40 caliber. Manufactured in 1888. It is a special order full round barrel with button magazine in the very popular English style. It is all original just as it left the factory and has seen very little use. Barrel retains approximately 80-85% of the original factory rust blue finish with razor sharp legends and areas of toning with a bit of minor salt and pepper at muzzle. Has the original Winchester sporting front and rear sights. Forend cap retains approximately 75% of the original high polish blue. Frame is brilliant. Retains approximately 85-90% of the factory high polish mirror blue finish with nice traces of case colors on lever and hammer. Walnut stocks are proud to metal. No cracks or chips of any kind. Most of the stock retains the extra finish with the original gloss intact. Strong rifled bore and perfect action. This is an extremely fine high condition Model 1873 special order rifle. The bluing on the frame can only be described as lustrous. Factory research indicates this gun shipped August 27th, 1888 as a .38 caliber round barrel with half magazine.
