6-1/2" barrel in .38-44 caliber. These target revolvers were a favorite of noted 19th century shooter Ira Pain who helped Smith & Wesson design the special .32 and .38 cartridge based on the standard 44 frame. It features six shot, single action, Patridge front sight, slotted rear sight, case colored hammer, and Smith & Wesson black composite grips. This revolver remains in excellent condition. Retains approximately 85% original nickel with the balance blending to gun metal grey. Areas have been cleaned to blend with nickel finish. Grips are excellent with no cracks. Index lock up is perfect. Strong rifled bore with minor black powder abrasion. The Smith & Wesson factory letter confirms all of the above and confirms delivery on September 14, 1888 to M.W. Robinson Seal., New York City.
