28 bore, 2-3/4”chambers, 27-3/4” blued barrels with solid matte rib and single brass bead. Faded markings on rib “CHAS. OSBORNE & CO. LONDON” and worn engraving at breeches. Bottoms of breeches stamped “sleeved” overtop of “PROOF” and other English proof marks and designations on flats. Polished boxlock action with scrolls surrounding banner engraved “CHAS. OSBORNE & CO” on both sides and with engraved blue bottom plate of action, blued trigger guard, lever and safety. Features: extractors, automatic safety and double triggers. Checkered figured walnut English buttstock with vacant silver escutcheon on bottom and leather-covered recoil pad. LOP is 14-1/8” to end of wood butt and 15” to back of recoil pad. Drop at comb is 1-1/2” and 2-1/4” at heel. Checkered splinter fore-end with Anson release. Weight is 5 lbs. 6 ounces. Complete with English leather case with brass corners, partitioned interior with red velvet and a label marked “Hardy Bros. Alnwick, England”. Exterior of the lid is marked with the initials “VS”. Very good condition, as refinished. Barrels retain 98% re-blued finish, a couple light storage marks, markings and engraving heavily worn. Bright bores. Polished receiver is very good, polished bright with significant wear to some engraving, blued accents excellent with worn engraving. Stocks very good, some wear to checkering and scattered minor marks from use, forend with one chip on right side near front and a 1” crack from end cap into forend. Forend needs to be re-varnished. Case is excellent, with normal wear from use, all straps excellent.
