Offered are a pair of Colt etched panel New Line .38 caliber, five shot, spur trigger revolvers. Neither revolver appears to have ever been fired. Both feature perfect etched panels and birds head rosewood grips. These revolvers were only manufactured from 1874 to 1880 of which 5,550 were made. Serial number 5797 was manufactured in 1875 and 7357 was manufactured in 1878. Both have fire blue on the back of the hammers, grips are near mint with minor storage wear. Neither cylinders show burn still 90%. No. 7357 has freckling on the cylinder, small flake on barrel with some minor age freckling with strong bore and perfect action. No. 5797 has a couple of minor age spots and freckles but remains at 98%. This matching pair of early Colts is housed in a period walnut case with ancient French fitted rose colored felt with two loading blocks of six rim fire cartridges each. Both have perfect etched panels. Absolutely stunning set of etched panel Colts.
